Meet the Team: Nick, Head of Service Management

I joined Cutover having been at Barclays Investment Bank for just under nine years. While I was there I worked in various parts of the Technology organisation – I started off in the Infrastructure area working on Capacity and Enterprise Management and then Service Management tools. After that I spent a good number of years working in front-office support functions, initially looking after the Commodities desk, then the FI Exotics desk.

After that I ran a cross-asset class support team in the Risk and Analytics area, building a global team with people in Singapore, Pune, Kiev, London and New York. For the last year or so I was leading DevOps and Test Automation projects for the same area, helping to move some of the key Risk platforms towards Continuous Integration and Delivery using standard tools.

How did you get involved with Cutover?

I was put in touch with the CEO Ky by Richard, Cutover’s Head of Financial Services Business Development, who I knew from when he worked at Barclays. I found the product very compelling, particularly as I could see how useful it would have been for a project I had recently been working on. Ky and I had various discussions about some of the areas that Cutover wanted to mature in and I felt I would be able to offer a lot based on my experience but also learn lots too.

What are your main responsibilities?

As Head of Service Management, my role is to develop how we deliver and support Cutover for our customers. This is something that’s been done well to date, but as a growing company, I want to make sure we’re able to continue to offer a great service as more and more people start to use the product.

What do you think will be your biggest challenges at Cutover?

It’s a big change for me having worked at a bank with over 100,000 people and more than 300 years of history for most of my career moving to a young company the size of Cutover. It’s an exciting change though and one I’ve really enjoyed so far but the culture is very different in many ways and I’m sure I’ll take time to adapt completely.

What are your main priorities going forward and what do you see in the future for Cutover?

One of my priorities is to make sure we continue to collaborate successfully between Development and Operations, following DevOps practices wherever possible as we grow. I also want to make sure we have the best processes and are using the right tools, so we can monitor and manage our services as effectively as possible in a scalable way. This is essential for Cutover to continue to grow as the platform for coordinating activities around critical events.

I see Cutover itself evolving to include more technical orchestration and integrations, helping to coordinate activities with both automated and human elements. I’m also excited to see it being used in more sectors over time.
